This day is set aside to appreciate wild birds as well as highlight the number of birds in shelters and with rescue groups waiting for adoption. Birds as companion animals require special care and could be the perfect friend if you choose to adopt. All birds seeking adoption were purchased at one time. parrots and other exotic birds are the 4th largest population of animals kept as companions and they represent the largest population of captive wildlife in the USA. Sadly, they have become one of the fastest growing groups of unwanted "pets". The HVHS frequently has birds for adoption, please consider adopting before purchasing.
